Shinier Myers never establishes whether she's an expert on Finnish education, has had a Finnish education, or has just heard about about Finnish education on Wikipedia but unfortunately I'm not sure that any of these apply. Less is More reads like a series of seven short blog articles about bringing up kids. I skim read the book in under an hour and didn't learn anything about Finnish education that I hadn't read in a magazine article.Product details

Very common sense information. I feel like this information could have been summarized in a parental magazine with bullet points.
It's entirely common sense. Feels like being lectured. Don't recall 1 single statistic after page about Finnish schools, and there was no mention of them after.
While there are a few good tips in here there is nothing on how Finland does things. The title of the book is very misleading.
This book has changed how I viewed child development entirely! The 5 key pillars it taught are simple and practicable yet normally got neglected by many of us. I am convinced that it will help me attend the needs of my child better now and in turn help my child develop better. I strongly recommend all parents to read this as I'm certain it will benefit you as much as it benefited me.
I really like this one. As a parent, I've always been very conscious of what I am teaching my children. With that
conscious effort though comes a certain degree of anxiety about whether I am teaching them the right things.
This book set my track straight.
First time I heard of the Finnish Way, I like the clear concepts of children upbringing. Especially loved the point on respecting the environment and teaching kids how to recycle and reused.
This book was a complete waste of money. I skimmed through it in about 10 minutes because it had the depth of a pamphlet written for new teenage parents (although nothing against them!). I was constantly thinking...well, duh. It was nothing that people in the western countries wern't told a million times about parenting. Eat dinner with your kids, love and nurture them, and play outside were all examples. Like a previous reviewer wrote, the author in no way gave an explanation as to why they were qualified to write a book on Finnish education apart from hearing about it from a friend.
