I enjoyed the characters and their interactions in this story. The fallen is an interesting concept. I kind of liked the side story of the weapons being bonded to the individuals and that Chasca had the ability to influence them and convert them to her own use.

There were a couple other side plots going in this one that kept your interest and just added to the overall story. The only reason I didn't give this one five stars is because it felt a little rushed because it was such a short story. But you will not feel disappointed, this was a great read. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good paranormal romance.
There is a lot to like about this book. The action is fast, furious, and immediate ( I was drawn in by the first few sentences). The pace is wonderfully quick - it is a 'one sitting' kind of book that never really lags. The characters (particularly the protagonist Chasca) are very engaging. I was in her corner from the beginning and only liked her more as the story went on. And Ms. Heller's writing style is crisp and very edgy. Her words positively pop off of the page. As the title tag line suggests, this book offers a bit of everything action, romance, and a healthy dose of magic. And it all comes together very well. 'Fate' is a very entertaining read, and I look forward to more from Ms. Heller in the future.
A.C. Heller's Fate is a compelling and unique paranormal romance written for adult readers; a story of a twenty-five year old nephilim woman, Chasca, an orphan with no knowledge of life before foster care or her parents. The novel is written in a first person narrative of Fate's main character providing an intense genuineness of inner thoughts and feelings surrounding new situations of fear, love, misunderstanding, and the unknown. The story begins with a prompt entrance when Chasca is kidnapped, and subsequently rescued by two strangers. Her unknown past, present, and future is written in prophecy; a prophecy which Chasca refuses to be chained to.

Once the initial kidnapping and rescue take place, which is performed by two sultry and endearing characters, the story sends you directly into conflict, internal emotions, and turmoil between the characters. Strange occurrences in Chasca's past begin making sense, while misunderstood powers take a stronghold and threaten her existence.

As Chasca learns who she is and what she is, she also learns who she can trust, who she can rely on, and who she can love. Her destiny is folded in the lines of prophecy and the outcome of her predetermined fate. No matter how hard she fights for her own choices, the outcomes follow the prophecy of "a daughter born among humans, unaware of her birth right...damned by her own blood to be a victim of her own abilities. In her life she will truly love only one, taking the dark from his soul, she will allow it to consume her."

The introduction of the Sacrifice series proves to be a short and enticing story which draws in readers from the very beginning. The future of the story seems easily decided based on the character's introductions and interactions towards each other, only to have Heller mix things up and provide an unexpected, but very substantial storyline.

Fate being Heller's first published novel provides the most common downfall of a fresh writer. Fate lacked the length of a typical novel of this genre, leaving readers with just enough to know they wanted more, but leaving it to Heller to suffice that need in Sacrifice which has been promised to follow. A very satisfying ending to Fate leaves the reader on the edge of their seat, awaiting the second part to the Sacrifice series.
I have never read anything by A.C. Heller before, but I was totally swept away by Fate. All I can say ( with out giving spoilers ) is that there is one scene when she wakes, ohhhhhh my goodness I have not laughed so loud, long or hard in a long while, I could just picture the scene perfectly. This book goes on my keeper shelf. I recommend it highly.
Imagine being, orphaned at a young age and being raised in foster homes your entire life. You have no knowledge of your family, nor do you have any knowledge of heritage you might have. Such is how Chasca Leon’s began her life.

After Chasca leaves home, she finds a job and lives a relatively mundane life until one fateful when on her way home she gets kidnapped. But as “FATE” would have it, her two rescuers are the ones who are going to help Chasca to discover her heritage and the “hidden” powers she possesses. She discovers who she can trust, who she can fall in love with, and the prophecy in which she plays an intricate part.

“FATE” is a wondrous mix of romance, action, adventure with a touch of the paranormal. Once I started reading it, the book became a page turner which I couldn’t put down. You must read this book in one sitting, or else you’ll probably lose the emotions which have built up inside your mind and the desire of what’s going to happen next.

If I can find the time, I’m going to download / read / review the other two books in this series.

Aiden and Takeo are her saviors and through them she finds out some things about her self that are truly extraordinary. I really enjoyed this novel because it is a lot more than just a tale of romance. Interesting story line that was well written, great job!
Did i buy the correct book? This should be classified as SciFi. Why you ask? I felt like I was in the zone trying to figure out if I had tapped the wrong book. The description and beginning sample were so wrong. This is a bad ROMANCE NOVEL! It seems a 14 yr old girl wrote it! Seriously? Really?
2 stars because the thin thread of story had potential and the epilogue was OK.
