William Massa's haunted hit-man Frank Talon is really coming into his own with this third adventure. The former Delta operative has finally acknowledged the presence of objectively demonic evil, but his modus operandi is still to eliminate with extreme prejudice those who choose to ally themselves with dark forces. This time out Talon is tasked with rescuing a formerly possessed damsel in distress from becoming re-possessed, this time seven-fold. There's a nearly endless supply of nameless, faceless bad guys to take out, but one thing I love about this series is that the hero doesn't just charge in with guns blazing. He makes plans, has contingency plans, knows when to request backup, and when he pulls the trigger, it's just one more step in a process. There are scenes of stealth, an extended chase scene, and a siege on a remote desert monastery. Another strong point in this (hopefully) ongoing series is how Talon wrestles with his own demons, even when taking down the minions of others. His primary ally is resourceful as always, and three new characters could certainly show up again in later installments. Occult Assassin has all the elements of a Mack Bolan/Executioner action/adventure, but with a supernatural/horror twist. Can't wait for the next one!

Talon isn’t given much of a break after the events of the first novel before he is thrust into the fight for the soul of a young woman. He quickly finds out this battle isn’t about just about one woman, but sealing off our world from a demon invasion. The novel is fast and drives you from one battle to another. The underworld and human fights are entertaining and makes for a fast read. I highly recommend this book and the others in the series.
Still writing entertaining books/stories. A few small mistakes (Bill, Glocks don't have external safeties ;) ) that didn't take away from an enjoyable read. Already looking forward to Spirit Breaker...and yes, I'll get that one too ) interesting to see what direction this will go in next, have covered digital demonism, heavy/death metal devil worshipers and good old fashioned possession...I wonder what Mr. Massa will think of next )
The second installment in William Massa's Occult Assassin series does not disappoint. It starts with a bang, literally, with a scene that kept me turning the pages. The thing I like best about this series, besides the action, is Talon. He's ex-special forces, but seems down to earth and at times even sentimental. These books are starting to take on a dark Bond type of feeling. In way they also remind me of the X-Files, with Talon investigating cases of the Occult that border on paranormal and dark magic.

Highly recommend!
Big fan of this series and Massa keeps raising the stakes. Not quite as original as book 1 in terms of the world but the pace is faster, the action bigger and the villain stands out. Book 2 introduces some cool new characters too. Bond movies used to be judged by their villains and Amon, the apocalypse soldier makes for another great opponent. This series combines Bondian adventure, horror and cinematic action into one addictive mix. Can't wait to see how Talon holds up against ghosts in Spirit Breaker.
I have finally found a book series on kindle that I love. Another action packed book about our hero Talon and his one man war against evil. Real evil, demonic, Biblical evil is Talon's enemy. Thoroughly enjoyable read. Reminds me of the men's adventure novels of the 70's and 80's. Looking forward to the next installment. Good stuff, Maynard!
Mark Talon returns in book two of the Occult Assassin series. Still reeling from the tragic events in “Damnation Code” he throws himself into another dangerous mission, this time with a beautiful girl's soul on the line as well as the fate of the world.

His Delta Force training comes in handy as he faces off against a well trained, and well armed, cultist militia and their powerful leader. This is an action adventure series that plays out like a Bond film, but with supernatural foes lead by a memorable villain.

What I like about Massa's books is he always has a cool original twist that ups the ante and puts it over the top like a summer blockbuster.
STORY REVIEW......

Mark Talon is once again battling evil occult followers. This time he's out to save a young formally possessed woman, Nicole Robertson who is being targeted. This is another great book by the talented Mr. Massa. The character of Talon is a mixture of Jason Bourne and Batman with just a dash of Hellboy thrown in. He's smart, sarcastic, crafty, quick on his feet, dark, haunted and knows how to kick some serious butt. The story is fast paced and really grabs you in.

AUDIO REVIEW......

I found the narrator to be much better this time around. The characters are far better voiced and easier to recognize who is who. Like book one this book was a delight to listen to. Loved the story.

I will most definitely will be continuing with reading the series and highly recommend this book for reading.
